Travelling from Vienna to Hallstatt might seem complicated to some. As you can see from above, it’s a pretty simple journey. You have a few options, but I will suggest you stick with either of these.
Departing Vienna Central Station at 5.55am, this is the earliest train leaving from Vienna to Attnang-Puchheim. The journey will take 2 hours and 8 minutes before you have to get down and board the train at the neighbouring platform. The train will be heading to Stainach-Irdning Bahnhof. So, remember to get down from Hallstatt Bahnhof. The Hallstatt train station is tiny and only has a road which will lead you directly to the ferry pier. There will be a ferry taking passengers to Hallstatt Markt whenever a train stopped. You’ll be arriving in Hallstatt in 10-15 mins.
Route 2 (Weekend)
This is the easiest way to arrive at Hallstatt. You board a direct train from Vienna, and you’ll reach Hallstatt after 3 hours and eight mins. This train only runs once a day during the weekend. The train will depart at 10.15am from Vienna Central Station, and you’ll arrive at Hallstatt at 1.21pm. The return train will be leaving at 4.32pm from Hallstatt Bahnhof, arriving at Vienna Central Station at 7.46pm.
