Who does not love a good brunch? I am a sucker for a breakfast/brunch food. I can save on any food, but when it comes to breakfast/brunch, I tend to overdo it, every single time.
Since I have been living in Moscow for almost four years soon, I have tried different brunch places and here are some of my favourite.
This chain restaurant in Moscow serves the best brunch. They have a selection of the Russian cheese, pancakes(blini) to croissant and of course, the killer Eggs Benedict. Nowhere in Moscow so far can do an Egg Benedict with salmon as good as CoffeeMania. It is served with three slices of toast, and two layers of salmon sandwiched between them, topped with a perfect egg Benedict and hollandaise sauce over it. It is definitely on the pricier note. So, this is usually my once-a-month kind of breakfast.
Besides breakfast, they have one of the best Carbonara. Ask for extra cheese. Their green curry chicken with rice is very different from the traditional green curry, and it’s so delicious.
My favourite CoffeeMania will be Gran CoffeeMania which is located near Lubyanka metro station, where you could enjoy a meal in a

You know they serve good breakfast when they already have “BREAKFAST” in their name. This cafe which specialises in breakfast is one of many excellent cafes by Friends Forever Company. Around the area, you might be able to search for Friends Forever Cafe and Conversation Cafe too.
There are far too many choices on the menu. However, I always find myself going back to some of my favourites such as Royal (eggs benedict with salted salmon, caviar on bread), the Breakfast Board (fried eggs serves with bread, avocado and a choice of salmon or ham) or blueberry pancakes.
I love to visit them during winter while hanging out with the girls. They serve some of the best hot chocolates and a selection of fancy lattes like Malty Nuts which is a nutty latte with Maltesers or “Superman” which is a caramel latte with nuts and milk chocolates.
Make a reservation before you go, or head there early. The space is only capable of holding around 30 pax, and it’s always full when I go there by noon, especially during the weekends or holidays.
Best for: the Small group who want only breakfast food.
Price: 700 – 1000 rubles
From the same chain as Breakfast Cafe, it’s not surprising that they have a very similar menu. Besides eggs and breakfast food, they serve pasta too and a more extensive selection of cakes.
When some people of your group do not want eggs/breakfast food for breakfast but fancy a good plate of pasta, head over to Conversation Cafe instead. Those who fancy a good breakfast as you do in Breakfast Cafe can still get what they want, while the others could grab their pasta.
Best for: the Small group who like breakfast or noodles as well as fancy hot chocolates or lattes and cakes.
Price: 700 – 1000 rubles
SAXON + PAROLE
This is one of those spots where you always see on Instagram. I have been putting off a visit to Saxon + Parole for at least a year. It looks pretty expensive and posh from all the photos I have seen.
During my last visit, I was pretty surprised. They serve eggs Benedict with ham for under 500 rubles and with salmon for double the price, as well as americano is just below 200 rubles. It is a better deal than I expected.
However, the portion is nothing if you’re starving as I do. I might be a little too hungry during the last visit that I headed over to another cafe nearby for dessert right after this.
Best for: Breakfast and perfect lighting for Instagram. Light eater.
Price : 700 – 1000 rubles
The buffet style chain restaurant from St Petersburg finally came to Moscow in 2016. It’s located in the centre of Moscow and worth a visit for its price and vibes.
It might not be one of the best eggs Benedict, but given that it’s priced less than 200 rubles, I can take it for what it is, even if the portion is tiny that I can eat two of them. The price of a cup of Raf is less than 200 rubles, which is one of the best I have seen in town.
Located near the Higher School of Economics of Moscow and having a real deal, you’ll spot a lot of students hanging around with their laptops and books. I will say it’s an excellent place for both hanging out and getting work done that I will drop by every other week.
Best for Budget, group, coffee, work.
Price: 500 – 700 rubles
# BONUS: COOK’KAREKU
You cannot miss out THE 24-hour breakfast spot in Moscow. They serve breakfast from all over the world like Mexican, English, French, Italian, Russian, Indian, Thai even Japanese, Singaporean and Australian. All breakfast are priced at 490 rubles with a 30% discount on breakfast served at 8-10 am local time of the selected cities.
Besides that, you have a selection of eggs, cereals, cheese even fluffy American Pancakes to choose from if you do not fancy any of the breakfast. Another thing to mention will be their Honey Crumbs served with vanilla ice cream for dessert. This is another game changer. I find myself going back to Cook’kareku a few times only to have this dessert.
Best for: Variety of breakfast from all over the world.
